She was all too used to his entrances, but every time he made one, a sense of fear and respect always passed her. She lowered her head slightly in a bow before righting herself up. "Hello Bakura." she said softly and took a deep breath. "I think I may have some news for you, and the news may help with your plans."
"Oh? And what is this piece of news?" he asked, still smirking.
"I think Yami's planning something, and it involves a boy from my class at school."

Bakura's eyes showed a sense of intrigue at this bit of news. "Hm, fascinating... Could he perhaps have chosen to take on a protégé?"
"I'm not sure, but if he has, it will probably cause nothing but problems for us," Kim stated with a frown.

"Indeed." Bakura mused. "It would be a pity if he chose a protege. Mostly because I hate taking on newborns."
"But, he's one of the sweetest kids I know, he doesn't deserve this life." Kim protested. "is there a way we can, I don't know, prevent it?"
"Only if I kill Yami in the next few days." Bakura suddenly frowned, "And I'm not yet prepared. And neither are you."
"W-what do I have to do with this?" Kim asked feeling her heart drop. when Bakura brought up his plans for her, she always felt sick to her stomach.
"I'm not ready to seize power when I have a human in my care. It would be too easy for one to take you out." he explained. "I've waited patiently for nine years, I can wait a few more until I'm ready to make you mine."

Kim swallowed the lump in her throat; while she was prepared for Bakura's plans for her, she still felt a little strange when he brought it up. Deciding to focus on the more pressing matter at the moment, she asked, "So, what do we do then? We can't let Yami get away with these plans."
"Hm, for now, perhaps I'll ask one of my colleagues to keep an eye on him or that boy he's so interested in," Bakura said after a moment. "If things start to look like they're taking a turn for the worst, he can put an end to these plans before they even begin."

"H-how do you plan to do that?" she asked, immediately fearing the worst and Bakura narrowed his eyes on her.
"Are you questioning me? Doubting me?"
"Of course not," she squeaked, hating herself for showing her fear and he approached her, causing her to wince. Bakura seldomly expressed dissatisfaction or anger with her, but when he did...she usually harbored some bruises for a few days.
However, he did not strike her. Instead, he took a long, slow breath and lowered his hand.

She felt her heart hammer against her chest painfully as she watched him carefully.
"I am sorry." she whispered and bowed her head. "I meant no disrespect against you at all."
"I know." he said quietly, she waited a moment before daring to tilt her head up to see what he was doing. He stood there silently, watching her. Swallowing a bit she righted herself up and avoided looking into his red eyes, "you know that I don't appreciate you questioning my decisions. Especially, since I made the most drastic decision on you."
"I understand." she said softly.

"Good." Bakura smirked again before backing away. "I shall make preparations, then. Be sure to keep feeding me any new information you come across, Kim."
"I will."

Bakura's smirk turned to a pleased smile, and he brought his hand up, squeezing her shoulder. "That's my good girl." he praised. Kim felt a rush of relief at his change of mood. And being a man who didn't show affection, him squeezing her shoulder was always a good thing.
"Do you have any homework?" "Just to study for my final exam tomorrow." she responded quietly.
"Alright, go on home and do that." he ordered. Kim nodded and he released her shoulder so she could go.

Soon, Kim was out of the building and heading back to her own house. As she walked, she couldn't help but sigh and think, 'Hopefully, nothing happens with that boy. I can't imagine him being able to adjust if Yami were to take him as a protégé..."

Night began to fall, the city began to close down, but there were certain areas that were always open at night time. Bakura sighed in relief when the sun set, and he stepped out of his home. Kim was no fun during exam weeks, as she was always studying. a part of their agreement was for her to do well in school. Mostly because he didn't want an idiot by his side forever, and he carried out dirty deeds to pay for her education. Soon though, that expense would be gone, and he's just go back to making sure she had enough groceries, clothes, and anything medical. It was expensive to raise a human.
Bakura walked down the streets, with his hands behind his back as he took in the many scents around him, trying to catch a whiff of blood that would satisfy him. Nothing seemed all that desirable. so he decided to go see an old friend instead. Hopefully he would have more job leads. and it would give him something to do for the next week, until Kim graduated from high school. Then hopefully she would be up to offering her company more often.
"Not that she'd have a choice anyway. he thought a little cruelly to himself. It was very rare for her to fight him. He had instilled enough fear and commanded a lot of respect, for her to be careful about what battles she chose to fight.

After walking along for a while, he reached a tucked away building on a less busy street and stepped inside. Looking toward the desk, he saw a woman with dark hair, playing around boredly with an empty glass. Bakura gave her a minute to try and realize he was there. After getting no response, he frowned and cleared his throat. The woman perked up and said, "Oh, good evening, sir. What can I do for you?"
"Actually, I was looking for your mate. He and I have business to discuss," Bakura told her.
"Oh, fine." She got up and went to the back of the room. Bakura stood around bored, thinking, 'I'm not sure why he had to pick a mate like her. She seems far too lax. I suppose she provides him some sort of entertainment behind closed doors.'
(Yeah, no name for this woman or who Bakura is seeing. I didn't know if we wanted to make them anyone specific; I just wanted to make a post. XD)

A few moments later, the doors opened up, and a young man stepped into the room. He was a little taller than Bakura, with wild spiky hair blonde hair. His skin was a rich bronze color, though Bakura was willing to bet it looked much better when he was alive and not shunned in the darkness.
He adorned his body with jewelrey and was wearing a simple black tank top that exposed a little bit of his stomach. His reddened eyes indicated he had just been done feeding. "Bakura," he said shortly, his tone clearly saying he wasn't happy. "what brings you here so soon?"
"Just wondering if there were any jobs you wanted to give me Malik." Bakura said coolly.
"Aw what's wrong? Is your human not providing entertainment?" Malik cocked his head to the side with a almost painful smile. Most, unfortunately knew about Kim, but it was hard to rid himself of her human scent.
Bakura chose not to answer. Instead he crossed his arms, "I also, have a bit of news for you, I thought it would be something for us both to discuss together."
Malik seemed to contimplate it, his eyes trailed over to where the woman as standing beside him, and he finally gave a long sigh. "Very well." he raised his hand to motion him over. "sit in watch, I'll be out shortly."
the woman merely nodded and Bakura followed Malik into the back rooms.

When they got situated, Malik said, "Alright, Bakura. What news is there you have to share?"
"It concerns Yami."
Malik gave a bitter smirk. "Ah, that vampiric richman? How many centuries has he been around, reminding us of how little power we have compared to him? Seriously, he should either just find some holy water to drown himself in or hand his job to someone else already."
"Funny you say that," Bakura mumbled. "I actually have reason to suspect that he has his eyes on someone to take as a protégé."

Malik's eyes gleamed. "Say what?"
"My human informed me that he's been around this kid from her school. She's been keeping watch on the two, and has a suspicion that Yami's going to take on a protege."
"Heh, so she does have some use after all," Malik muttered.

"Well, of course," Bakura said with a smirk. "I wouldn't have bothered taking her for my own if she didn't."
"So, what did you have in mind to counter his plans then?"
"Sadly, I'm unable to act right now as I am. Which is why I decided to come to you." With a malevolent glint in his eyes, he said, "After all, I know you and your friends have been searching for new entertainment."

Malik smirked darkly "That we have. But still, do you think it is wise for us to take on Yami?"
"I'll leave that for you to decide, I just figured I would give you the opportunity. If not, I've always got back up plans."

Malik crossed his arms over his chest, pursing his lips into a slight frown. "You're asking a lot of me, Bakura. Yami is one of the oldest and most powerful vampires in the country. For every enemy her has 3 allies. Going up against him directly is risky, to say the least."
"True, but something must be changing. Why else would he want a protégé?" Bakura asked and Malik shrugged.
"A number of reasons, I'm sure. I will consider helping you, but you need to ensure his resources are weakened. Otherwise it's a suicide mission, and I'd like to see a few more centuries. I have many things I wish to do before the stake sinks into my chest."
"Noted." Bakura stood. "I have some others I want to recruit. i will tell you when I have more assistance. For now, just think it over."
"I shall do just that."

"I shall." Bakura bowed his head before standing and leaving Malik alone. He walked through the streets, ignoring the homeless people huddled in alleys, the occassional mugger, and a few souls brave enough to venture into the night.
It was a long walk, but he finally found himself outside a tall, ominous building and stepped inside. He took the elevator up to the top floor and stepped into the office where he saw a man at his desk, admiring a glittering stone - unmistakably a sun stone.
"Mr. Bakura...what brings you to my territory?" the man asked. His hair was brown and his eyes were cobalt blue.
"I am seeking some aid, Mr. Kaiba."

"Aid?" he repeated, and put the stone away,"ANd what sort of aid does a bounty hunter require from me?"
